Sharing first impressions and opinions about three different modern sculptures.
Part 2
Researching information about the different artists.
Part 3
Sharing the researched information with the group and discussing opinions. Deciding on one artist for a class project.

Look at the three photos of different sculptures. Share your thoughts and opinions about them and consider the following questions: *What is your first impression of the sculpture? Do you like it or not? Why? *What do you think the artist wants to express in this sculpture? *Do you know any sculptures of a similar style? *Which sculptures do you know in the area where you live? What are they like?

You now have 10 minutes to find out more one of the artists, Alexander Calder. You then have to be prepared to tell your group members what you learned. The following website may provide a good starting point: https://www.tate.org.uk/search?q=alexander+calder

Now tell each other what you learnt about the artist you researched. Then agree on one artist you would like to do a class project about. Write your decision with a short justification into the Collaborative Writing box and send it to your teacher.
